The new Cadburys Bournvita advertising campaign launching in Nigeria recognises the boom in interest in ballet across West Africa.
Michaela DePrince’s journey from an orphanage in war-torn Sierra Leone to prima ballerina and principal dancer at the Dutch National Ballet has inspired a generation of young girls in the region.
However this film shows the struggles of a young boy as he follows his dream to become a ballet dancer. The love of his Mother and a warm cup of Bourvita gives him the strength to persevere and eventually succeed.
The boy is played by Brian Otegbola who is the son of Lovette Otegbola who is the founder and driving force of Lovette’s BITS Dance Company based in Lagos. @LovettesBits
Its a great day for ballet in West Africa, for boys ballet, for black ballet and for ballet outreach projects all over the world.
Well done to Cadburys and the advertising guys and well done to Lovette and Brian.
