The Tiller Girls

The clamour for glamour continues in today’s entertainment world and as variety experiences a resurgence in popularity with a more contemporary feel for today’s audiences, The Tiller Girls deliver breath-taking precision dance, spectacular costumes and a sprinkling of Hollywood allure wherever they perform.

The Tiller Girls were re-launched on The John Bishop Christmas Show in 2013 and appeared as guest stars again for John Bishop’s festive show on 22nd December 2014 on BBC One at 9pm.

Steeped in heritage, today’s Tiller Girls still retain the tradition of the high kicking line up with the focus firmly on precision dance. The choreography includes a nod to the past whilst blending a sprinkling of Hollywood and a soupçon of contemporary to bring this iconic troupe right up to date.

Whilst many may remember the world famous Tiller Girls from their regular appearances on Sunday Night At The London Palladium in the 1960’s and 70’s, few will know that they were originally launched by the creator of precision dance – John Tiller as far back as 1890.

By 1920, John Tiller had eighty troupes performing all over the world from Broadway to Paris, as well as in Hollywood movies for Busby Berkeley.

Today’s Tiller Girls are amongst the most highly trained dancers in the country, with a repertoire that ranges from traditional high kicks, to jazz, tap and ballet all performed with split second precision and all the girls are also accomplished singers.

The Tiller Girls are a great British brand with their dancing feet firmly in the 21st century, despite 125 years of heritage. As one critic said:

“They dance as one woman and what a woman!”
